Tommy and Annie's Trek for CWS
Two of our supporters from Singapore are taking on the challenge of climbing to Island Peak to raise money for CWS. You can read all about their preparation and adventure here and you can also show them your support by making a donation to CWS. Thanks so much Tommy, Annie and all your supporters for your generosity!

Hi Friends! Tashi Delek!

We are are set to trek the Himalayas this April to help raise US$20,305 (to match the altitude of Island Peak) for the Children Welfare Scheme (CWS) projects. The 2 weeks trekking will take us from Lukla to Everest Base Camp and we will be attempting to climb the snowy Island Peak to summit at 20,305 feet (6,189m). Island Peak (also known as Imja Tse) is located in the Himalayas of Eastern Nepal. Here's a few pictures of a recent expedition sent from my friend Jamling Norgay.

As most of you would know, Jamling is the son of Tenzing Norgay who first climbed Mount Everest in 1953 with Sir Edmund Hillary. He has followed his father's footsteps and scaled the Everest summit in 1996 himself. We are very excited that Jamling has volunteered to take us up to Island Peak after he has heard about our mission to help raise funding for CWS.

We were in Nepal for the first time this year to visit CWS Headquarter and met with the organization's Founder, Douglas Maclagan and his team. His vision for CWS is to help evelate lives of the children in Nepal for a better future by providing through the key main CWS projects in Healthcare, Education and Protection & Social Support.

The trip was no doubt an eye-opener to see first hand the deep poverty suffered across the country but at the same time also very rewarding for us to see the success CWS has made over the years in Nepal in helping the children to fight child labor, the lack of education access, poor nutrition and health. However, there are much more that still can be done.

Tommy and me have been stepping up our cardio to get ourselves fit for the trek. It will be a challenge with the days of hiking and climbing at the altitudes. But it will be such an honor and accomplishment to contribute our time, money and effort to help these children in Nepal.

So we need your support to raise funding for CWS projects! Please help us achieve our mission to help the disadvantaged and vulnerable children in Nepal.

Thanks

Tommy & Annie
