Improving Early Childhood Development in Rupandehi District (2008 - 2011)

In the rural villages of Nepal, many children are deprived from early year’s education. Although the government has commenced education programmes for children aged 3 to 5 in primary government schools, the quality and resources are limited. Community based Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres have been recognized for their powerful impact in creating an enjoyable environment that fosters physical, mental, social and emotional development of children.

The project changed the lives of over 2,000 people (including children and their family members).

CWS and its local partner uplifted the condition of 20 centres so the children will have better access to early childhood education.  CWS trained the teachers, purchased proper materials and educated parents about nutrition and health.
