HK$150 saves a child’s life by providing medical help for a child living in a remote mountain community

HK$380 reduces respiratory disease and save trees, by building an improved cooking stove for a family in Nepal

HK$760 means a street child no longer has to go hungry, by buying them 2 meals everyday for 6 months

HK$1,530 gives a disadvantaged young person a new start in life, by paying for a month’s vocational training

HK$3,820 helps us treat 825 children from the slums, by paying the salary of a doctor for a whole month

General donations are much appreciated because it gives us the flexibility to fund the projects with the greatest needs. However, we understand the heartfelt connection that one feels from funding a particular project so we’ll do our best to direct your donations specifically if you wish to do so.

Most countries will allow you to make a donation via PayPal without a PayPal account. However, if your country’s credit card policy requires that you must verify your account via PayPal, please be assured that it will only take a few minutes.

We are able to issue HK and US tax deductible receipts for all donations of HK$100 and above. If you would like a US tax receipt, please make the cheque payable to “Friends of Hong Kong Charities” who will distribute 100% of your donation as a grant to CWS. Please be ensured that FOHKC retains absolutely no donations for overhead, salaries, or administrative costs.

Please note the ‘Direct funds to Nepal’ chart above represents only half of all expenditure on Nepal projects. The other 50% is funded by CWS UK and together we help the number of children indicated in our beneficiary chart below.

How funds are raised
CWS Hong Kong’s fundraising is varied thanks to so many people who work extremely hard to make our work possible. Thanks to a number of amazing committee members we are able to raise a large amount through exciting and fun events held throughout the year. We are also lucky in that we have a number of brave supporters who take on ambitious challenges to raise funds to help children in Nepal.

CWS HK holds a large fundraising event every other year. Proceeds from this event make a significant contribution to funding the following two year's of CWS Nepal's budget. 2007-2008 was an "odd year" so the event was not held and "Event" income appears disproportionately low. During the current 2008-2009 fiscal year, the large fundraising event was successful thus "Event" income for 2008-2009 will appear disproportionately high.

How funds are spent
A few very generous individuals help keep our administrative costs low by donating office space and supplies and covering staff costs. This enables us to send the maximum amount of your donation to the programmes in Nepal. We guarantee that your very generous donation is well spent; we know how hard people work and a donation means so much - we strive to achieve lots with very little and ensure your hard earned money is invested in the best possible way.
